compartment and for that, I have added a COOL metal zipper end.....BUT....I do know that not everyone will have them or want to get them......

Daryl

.....so Daryl of Patchouli Moon Studio has put together a little tutorial on how to make a fabric zipper tab, just in case you haven't made one before and want to know how!

Over to you, Daryl:

---------------------------------------------

Cut a piece of fabric that measures 1 ¾” (4.5cm) W x 4” (10cm) H. Press ¼” (6mm) to the wrong side on both short ends of the fabric piece. *Note: the width cutting measurement is if you are using a 1” (2.5cm) wide zipper. Adjust your width measurement to suit the width of the zipper that you are using. You may also adjust the height or length you cut if you want a shorter or longer zipper tab too.

Step 1

Then fold the piece right-sides-together with the press edges at the top and sew a ¼” (6mm) seam on the 2 sides.  The top is open and the bottom is where the fold is. I used yellow thread in the photo so you could see where to stitch, but you would want to match your thread color to the fabric color when you sew your tab.

Step 2

Next trim off the four corners at an angle and turn your piece right-sides-out. Gently poke out the corners so they are nice and square.

Step 3
Give it a good press.

Step 4
Slip your zipper end into the little zipper tab.

Step 5

Then you will top-stitch around all four sides about 1/8” (3mm) from the edge. Now you have a nice zipper end to grab on to when you are zipping your zipper closed.

Done!
